The 4 Days Mount Meru Climb is one of the most exciting trekking adventures in Tanzania. Rising to 4,566 meters, Mount Meru is the second highest mountain in Tanzania and the fifth highest in Africa.
Located in Arusha National Park, the trek offers a unique experience where climbers can spot wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, and monkeys along the trail. Unlike most mountain treks, the climb begins with a park ranger escort due to the presence of wildlife in the area.
The route passes through several ecological zones including:
- Montane forest
- Heather and moorland
- Alpine desert
The summit is reached via a dramatic narrow ridge, offering breathtaking views of the Meru Crater, Ash Cone, and even Mount Kilimanjaro on clear mornings.
Many climbers use Mount Meru as acclimatization before climbing Kilimanjaro, while others enjoy it as a spectacular standalone trekking adventure.
